Rome Cooking Courses and Wine Tours

Campo dei Fiori cooking course and market tour . Y our morning starts with a visit to the lively and colorful outdoor market at Campo De’ Fiori  to shop for fresh ingredients to be used in your class.     By 10.30am you will be back at the Restaurant; at the beginning of the lesson our Chef will explain the menu and distribute the various tasks to the participants.   Each lesson foresees the preparation of an entire Italian menu from starters to desserts and a wide list of the best wines to choose for the different dishes.

Should you have a particular culinary desire do not hesitate to inform us, our chef will be glad to please you!

Cooking Courses always include a convivial lunch, where dishes prepared during the lesson will be served with wines chosen especially.   At 1.00 pm lunch is served and you will personally enjoy the results of your work!  The course is an intensive, full immersion into the Roman eno-gastronomic traditions.

Wine tasting course   from 3.00pm to 5.30 pm. Our wine walks   are led by a professional AIS  sommelier who will explain the history of Italian winemaking.   He will help you navigate wine lists and explain the character of each region.

Although you should go home knowing the difference between   Chianti and  Fiano, emphasis is on learning to enjoy Italian wines and  observing, through tasting, how they relate to Italian culture. This is a short course designed for those who wish to learn more about Italian  wine without too much theory; it consists of a two hours program in which different wines are tasted and combined with a selection of traditional Italian finger foods.

Wine Tasting and Roman Cooking Course - in Trastevere. The characteristic Trastevere district dates back to the Seventeenth century. Private Wine tasting and dinner only for two - ancient underground Tufo wine cellar. At 7pm Our Sommelier will introduce to you the Italian winemaking history. You will visit the ancient tufo wine cellar, tasting the first two wines.   Our Sommelier will help you navigate wine lists and explain the character of each region, learning to enjoy Italian wines and  observing, through tasting, how they reflect Italian culture.   At 8.00 pm the dinner will be served in the Restaurant; a special menu will be selected by the sommelier according to food and wine pairing rules. You may also choose to stay in the candle-light wine cellar for dinner.

Wine Tasting in Piazza Navona – As part of this wine tasting you will sample some excellent wines from Central Italy that vary in age, type of grape and strength, thereby allowing you to appreciate all the richness and variety of Italian wines. Modern, professional wine tasters use a constantly-evolving formal terminology which is used to describe the range of perceived flavors, aromas and general characteristics of a wine. More informal, recreational tasting may use similar terminology, usually involving a much less analytical process for a more general, personal appreciation.  The wine tasting menu can change according with Cellar availability and Season.

Please note that for the walking tour you may need – optional -  car transfers or private bus transfers to be quoted separately.

St Peter`s Basilica Saint Peter`s Cathedral was consecrated on Nov. 18, 1626. It is the world`s largest church, with a floor area of 21,477 m2. The external perimeter is 1,778 meters, it is 186.35 meters long and 97.50 meters wide. The main nave is 40 meters high, and the dome 132.50 meters. There are 44 altars, 11 domes, 778 columns, 395 statues, 135 mosaic panels. From Saint Peter`s portico you enter the main entrance hall, with its five doors. On the right you can see the Holy Door, which is opened only every 25 years, in Jubilee or Holy years.

Vatican Museums The largest, richest, most compelling and perhaps most exhausting museum complex in the world. Much booty from the city`s history has ended up here, from both classical and later times, and many of the Renaissance`s finest artists were in the employ of the pope.

As its name suggests, the Vatican Palace actually holds a collection of museums on  very diverse subjects, displays of classical statuary, Renaissance painting, Etruscan relics, Egyptian artifacts, not to mention the furnishings and decoration of the palace itself. The Vatican Museums are the Egyptian Museum, Chiaramonti Museum, Museum Of Popes Clement XIV And Pius VI, Gregorian Museum Of Etruscan Art, Antiquarium Romanum, Vase Collection, The Biga Room, Gallery Of The Candelabra, Gallery Of The Tapestries, Gallery Of The Maps, Apartment Of St.Pius V, Sobieski Room, Room Of The Immaculate Conception, Raphael`s Rooms And Loggias, Collection Of Modern Religious Art, Sistine Chapel, Apostolic Library, Vatican Picture Gallery, Gregorian Museum Of Profane Art, Christian Museum, Missionary Museum Of Ethnology and the Carriage Pavilion.

Sistine Chapel Deservedly one of the most famous places in the world, the Sistine Chapel is the site where the conclave for the election of the popes and other solemn pontifical ceremonies are held. Built to the design of Baccio Pontelli by Giovannino de Dolci between 1475 and 1481, the chapel takes its name from Pope Sixtus IV, who commissioned it. It is a large rectangle with a barrel-vaulted ceiling and it is divided into two unequal parts by a marble screen. The screen and the transenna were built by Mino da Fiesole and other artists.
