Capri by Boat

from Naples, Sorrento, Cilento and the Amalfi Coast

Duration: about 9 hours
Description: you will cruise from Sorrento to Capri with several stops around the island: the Blue Grotto (Grotta Azzurra). From the Blue Grotto you will continue your trip around the island passing by the lighthouse at Punta Carena before making your second stop at the Green Grotto (Grotta Verde,) where you can have a swim in its crystalline waters. Around 11:30 am you will arrive at Marina Piccola, which used to be a fishing village. There is a pretty little beach, perfect spot for lunch and a swim. By taking one of the island`s little buses up to Capri town (only a 10 minute ride away) you can enjoy a drink in the "Piazzetta" (small square) and take your time exploring the island’s historical sites (Villa Jovis, Certosa, Augustus Gardens, Villa San Michele of Axel Munthe).   At 4:00 pm you meet back at Marina Piccola to board the boat for the remaining coastal tour of the island visiting the White Grotto (Grotta Bianca) and the Marvellous Grotto (Grotta Meravigliosa,) admiring the Natural Arch passing through beautiful and mythical "Faraglioni" and then back to Sorrento.

Boat Cost: Euro 60/person with a minimum charge of Euro 400.

Positano / Island of Li Galli

John Steinbeck, the great American author that once lived here said, "it is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone."

We will be joined by our historian who will share with us the history of the town. After your tour you will want to explore the beautiful town at your own pace and explore the many boutiques where you can find Positano hand-made leather shoes, bags, local fashions, ceramics, home goods and much much more.

Boat tour of the “Isola li Galli” ( Island of the Sirens) you may recall this island from the odyssey.

On our way back we will have time to stop to swim at a local beach in Positano.

Conca / Minori / Positano

Boat tour to the town of Conca dei Marini where the water is different in color from the blue sea of Positano and Praiano, here it is a deep green. From there we will visit the “Grotta dello Smeraldo” (The Emerald Grotto) which includes an underwater nativity.

After our visit to the Grotta dello Smeraldo, we will continue our boat ride along the coast and will stop in the town of Minori . Here we will have lunch at a garden set pizzeria and you will be able to try a real Neapolitan pizza.

Following lunch, we will visit a limoncello factory in the town of Minori and see how the famous Italian liquor is made. The Amalfi Coast is famous for its lemons and limoncello is a local specialty.

On our way back we will visit the Marmorate waterfalls where you will have time for a swim.

Capri / Anacapri

Today our day starts with an early departure following breakfast to commence our exciting excursion to the very famous island of Capri . The island of Capri is visited and it is home to many of the rich and famous of Italy and the world. You will admire beautiful yachts that surround the island’s coves and bays.

As a group we will take a visit to the Blue Grotto which has become the emblem of the island (the experience will be breathtaking).

You will then have time on your own to explore the center of Capri , have lunch, and shop the luxurious shops which include Prada, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana and many others.

In the afternoon we will be joined by a historian who will tell us about the geography and history of the marvelous island of Capri and will accompany us to the town of Anacapri which is set way up above the island. If you choose, you may take a 20 minute chair lift ride to the top Monte Solaro where you will have the most spectacular view of the bay of Naples.

Nerano / Baia di Ieranto

Departure by boat for the town of Nerano . We will get a brief tour of the town and then set out for a tour of Ieranto Bay . The bay is owned by the Fondo per l`Ambiente Italiano (FAI), Italy`s equivalent of the National Historic Landmarks Program and only 20 boat companies are allowed to enter into this national landmark. We take you there on your own private visit via boat.

Our group will then head back to Nerano where we will have lunch at a beachfront restaurant.

On the way back, you will have time to take in some sun and swim.

Amalfi / Ravello

We start the day with a visit to the famous town of Amalfi . Afterwards, you will have time on your own to explore the streets at your own pace, visit the little shops, have lunch, go to the beach and see the beautiful Amalfi cathedral built before the 9th century.

Our group will take the boat back so that we can depart again around 5:00PM for the town of Ravello which is set high in the mountains of the Amalfi Coast . A historian will take us to visit Villa Rufolo and it’s medieval ruins dating back to the 13th century and the private estate of Villa Cimbrone where you will enjoy a beautiful view of the Bay of Salerno.

Sail the Amalfi Coast

You will spend your last day relaxing on a sail boat that will sail around the Amalfi Coast . You will enjoy seeing many of the places you have visited from the sea and will truly appreciate the beautiful coast line. It is a scene that you will never forget! We will be providing a picnic lunch including sandwiches, local cheeses, wine and fresh fruit. Make sure to bring your swimsuits for swimming and snorkeling.
